Need a Good Laugh?

Okay, it's approaching the end of the grading period, which means the students have started to become restless and have for the most part either lost interest or are scrambling feverishly to complete the work they'd put off all quarter. I'm looking at massive amounts of portfolio grading coupled with the fact that grad school has started up once again (yippee) and in addition to my normal course load, I have a research paper from the previous semester that is due in February. So, needless to say, I am constantly in the need of a good pick me up. While I was visiting Chad, he showed me this wonderful little site wherein I got to watch a strange little grape stomping woman fall out of her bucket and flail about the ground making bizarre sounds as she tries to catch her breath.

Remembering this, I went in search of other humorous video clips. I even started to share them with friends, who in turn led me to other sites with other clips to laugh at. Some of the best are as follows:

Now you see her, now you don't

How to turn your bicycle into a catapult

I knew I was most certainly going to go to hell for laughing at this one

SNL's Caulk in the Crack skit and Celebrity Jeopardy

However, this one topped them all. I used to watch Whose Line Is It Anyway? fairly regularly but I NEVER saw the episode containing THIS clip before. Two words...RICHARD SIMMONS.

This clip STILL makes me laugh to the point of tears. Enjoy!

PS--Sorry about having to copy and paste the links. I haven't figured out how to properly link anything yet. Jean???

Chris- when you're typing a new post there's a link button (looks like a fence link...next to the text color button)just highlight the words you want to attach the link to then click that button and you can type in the web address. then the words highlighted will become a link.
BTW some of these are pretty funny! can i put a link to you on my blog?

As a burdgeoning improv comedian, that last link both disturbs and terrifies me. I can only pray I don't befall a similar fate during a show: sandwiched between my teammate's back and Richard Simmons's buttocks.

Yup, Shan's got it right!

It's weird that you're worried about grading now...and I'm just getting started with my new students tomorrow. Yikes. I'd love to see the kind of art they hand in.

Next time you're in MN, we'll do a swap. I'll grade, uh...pointilisms (yes you CAN kill me for not being able to spell that) and you can grade process essays. Deal?

Shannon: Thanks for the linkage assist. As soon as I get some spare time, I will try it out. Also, feel free to link me if you'd like.

Chad: If you were ever to do an Improv show with Richard Simmons and he was to mention your "taut stomach" I'd probably lose all control of my bodily functions in a fit of laughter.

Jean: Hmmmm....not sure I want to take you up on that deal. Just how long are each of those process essays? And how many students per class?

3-5 pages. 25 studes.

C'mon. It's FUN. You get to learn how to do fun things--like last spring semester I learned how to roll a joint!

Yeah, I should've banned some topics...epecially ones that everybody already knows how to do...
